The Black Lips are gearing up for the release of their brand new album, 200 Million Thousand. In keeping with the numerically-massive album title, the band doesn't want ONE video for the first single, 'Starting Over,' they want 200 Million Thousand. And they want you to make them.
The contest will run until the 200 Million Thousandth video has been submitted. Or until February 15th. Whichever comes first. So get started. Submissions can be uploaded to vimeo.com beginning January 12th, 2009.
Spin & Adidas Originals present Chromeo live at the Key Club in Los Angeles on January 22, 2009. On December 16th a limited number of tickets will go on sale. The pre-sale only last 48 hours so get your tickets here while you can:
Pitchfork's own Pitchfork.tv will screen Electroma for one night and one night only this very weekend. It's just like their usual "One Week Only" feature, except, you know, for a night. The "odyssey" begins tomorrow (Friday) at 8 p.m. EST and concludes precisely 24 hours later, at 8 p.m. on Saturday, which should provide ample time for approximately 19 successive viewings of the 74-minute film.
If you can't make the screening, make sure to pick up a copy of the DVD here.
Following their life-perverting performance at the 2008 Pitchfork Music
Festival, King Khan and the Shrines took to the rooftops of Brooklyn
for a (literally) thunderous set. To put it another way, they made it
rain. Check it out on Pitchfork.tv:

King Khan and the Shrines brought their soulful antics to the Rhythm Room in Phoenix this summer and filled the house on a hot Tuesday night, emptying beers on eager show-goers.
Following the success of this year's critically adored album Lust Lust Lust, Danish noir-rock duo The Raveonettes today announce plans to release a series of digital only EPs. Following today's remix EP will be Sometimes They Drop By on September 23. Two more EPs will follow on October 21 and November 25.
Today's free Remixed EP centers around three standout tracks from Lust Lust Lust, presented in radically different new versions. Hypnotic Japanese electro producer 80KIDZ, Alec Empire-conspirator Nic Endo, and Danish DJ superstar Trentemøller reconstruct these now familiar songs into new shapes.
Tracklisting for today's three song free remix EP: 1. Dead Sound (80KIDZ remix) 2. Aly, Walk With Me (Nic Endo remix) 3. Lust (Trentemøller Remix)
At Lollapalooza, Jared from the Black Lips drops by Roxwel.com and talks about touring,
getting free swag and tattoos. He also talks about the strippers in their latest music video
"It Feels Alright".
EVERYTHING IS BORROWED OUT OCTOBER 7 ON VICE RECORDS
Mike Skinner, aka The Streets, will be delivering his fourth album, everything is borrowed October 7th on Vice Records. Never one to take the same approach twice, Skinner is contemplating the impermanent nature of life this time around. Skinner has made a record to console the lonely and bring a smile to the saddest visage. Applying his homespun hip-hop sensibility to real instruments, Mike comes up with sing-a-long musings on such unconventional subjects as religion ("Alleged Legends"), evolution ("The Way of the Dodo"), biological destiny ("On the Edge of a Cliff"), and male friendship ("The Sherry End"). From the first time people heard The Streets' Mercury Prize-nominated debut Original Pirate Material, they couldn't make their minds up whether the person making this music was black or white, from London or the Midlands, serious or a joker. Having given the world plenty of time to get acclimated, Skinner now rediscovers his old irrepressible buoyancy and takes his trademark stop-start lyrical flow to entirely new places. Watch "The Escapist" video and receive a free download of the track:
"British MC Mike Skinner is a pale-faced poet laureate the geezer is so real it hurts." - SPIN
"Mike Skinner is to hazy slacker downtime what Hunter S Thompson is to Americana: a shrewd chronicler, a dizzying blurrer of creative forms." - INTERVIEW
"It's important to note that Mike Skinner (aka the Streets) is pop music's rarest commodity: a singular talentŠimplausibly imaginative." - ESQUIRE
"Skinner's ear for language and detail is vivid and hilarious. Call it Zen Hooliganism - ROLLING STONE Skinner, though, is life's real deal, an artists who knows that, if rendered honestly, even mundane experiences can produce the most powerful music." - NEW YORK MAGAZINE
We've left you guys kind of hanging but it is now Spring so the MP3 Blog is coming out from hibernation.
